Installation: Upgrade from Existing vMedia 8.x Client

Click here to view instructions for adding optional PDF Support to vMedia 2.2.

  1. Uninstall any existing Image-Master or vMedia Client through the Control Panel.

  2. Verify that the uninstallation completed successfully.

  • Check Devices and Printers to make sure the ImageMaster, ImageMaster Color, vMedia-BW and vMedia-Color printers are not present.

  • Delete the C:\imaster folder.

  • Check to see if any of the following folders exist and have an uninst00x.exe file in it (where x=0-9). If so, run the exe to remove the associated driver. Look for:

c:\windows\ImageMaster

c:\windows\ImageMaster Color

c:\windows\vMedia-BW

c:\windows\vMedia-Color

  • Check to make sure the EIDMS and MACHID environment variables do not exist.

NOTE: The installer that you downloaded from the portal unpacks and distributes the software into an installation folder (vMedia) on your network. The next step refers to this folder.

NOTE: Workstation_Setup must be run by an administrator with installation rights.

  1. Run the Workstation_Setup.exe module from the vMedia 1.0 installation folder.

  2. Verify that the installer stops to ask if existing settings should be read.

    • Typically, answer Yes.

  3. Continue through the wizard pages.

  4. At the "Ready to Install" wizard page, watch closely after you click [Install] to verify that the existing vMedia client is uninstalled first.

  5. Verify that the vMedia 1.0 installation completes successfully.

  6. Check to make sure the desktop shortcut references vMedia.exe.

  7. Run vMedia.exe and verify proper operations.

  8. Check Devices and Printers for the installed printer.

  • There should be either one or two based on the choices selected during setup.

    • There should be a vMedia-BW printer.

    • Optionally, there can be a vMedia-Color Printer (no ImageMaster nor ImageMaster Color)

  1. Run any application and choose the printer properties for either of the printers.

  • Verify that the PTIProperty app references the correct printer and changes made are applied.

  1. Print to vMedia from the client application and verify that the visuals are correct (vMedia 1.0) and the operations are correct.

  2. Close the Print to vMedia window.

  • You do not need to save the test document.

  1. Close vMedia.
