Patch Code Setup

Overview

A patch code is a pattern of horizontal black bars separated by spaces. A patch code provides a trigger during an automated scanning process. There are three types of patch codes which can be used. Any combination of the three types may also be used. Patch Code Setup is found on the Image-Master Advanced Features dialog box shown.

Set Patch Code Recognition

  1. On the Image Control window, select the image database and click the [Scanning Module] button.

  2. On the Scanning Module main window, click the [Image Control] button.

  3. The Scanner Image Control dialog box opens. Click the [Advanced Scanner Features] button.

  4. Click on [Patch Code Setup] from the Image-Master Advanced Features dialog box.

  5. The Patch Code Options dialog box opens.

  • Patch code Type – Select which type of patch code will be used. Options include Patch III, Patch II, Patch T.

  • Process Options – Select the option for the corresponding patch code type:

  • No Action – Patch code will not trigger an event although patch codes may be detected.

  • Trigger Save, Continue Scanning – All unsaved scanned images up to that point will be saved. After saving, the scanning process automatically continues. The Fully Automated option on the Scanner Image Control dialog box must be selected for this option. The patch code does not show up in the scan set and it is not included in the Scan Set Status number.

  • Trigger Save, Stop Scanning – All scanned images up to that point will be saved and scanning stops.

  • Stop Scanning – The scan process will stop. The user can then save or discard the unsaved scans.

  • [Patch Code Settings] – Click this button to open the following dialog box:

  • Enable Detection – Select this box to enable the scanner to detect patch codes.

  • Left Offset To Center of Patch Code (in): – This field specifies a value from the left side of the image that defines a point that falls within the center of the patch code. This numeric value represents inches.

6. Make your selections on the Patch Code Setup dialog box and click [OK].

7. The Patch Code Options dialog box reopens. Make your selections and click [OK].

8. Image-Master returns to the Image-Master Advanced Features dialog box.

Combining Two or More Patch Code Types

Two or more patch codes may be used to trigger different actions. For example, a Patch T Code might be used to stop the scanner while a Patch II Code might be used to trigger a save and continue scanning.

To handle this, define each patch code action separately on the Patch Code Options dialog box.
