Understanding the Approved Scanner Lists...
The Approved Scanner lists are
comprised of scanners that have been tested in-house by Fillimerica
Incorporated and/or CLS for correct operation with Image-Master and scanners that have been proven
in the field to work correctly in a wide variety of
environments.

devices have previously been found to work with Image-Master and may still be available for
purchase from certain outlets.

Image-Master can control document scanners using
either of two popular protocols:
TWAIN - Supports black and
white scanning and a basic feature set.
KOFAX - Supports both color
and black and white scanning and an expanded feature set.
Protocol -
Some scanners support both types of protocols. When that happens,
the KOFAX protocol is preferred and should be chosen. The protocol
(sometimes referred to as the driver) is separate and distinct from
the scanner interface to the computer. Image-Master will work with
a scanner, copier, multi-function device (MFD), or digital sender
that utilizes a supported protocol, regardless of how it is
physically attached to the computer or the network.
Preferred -
Scanners that attach directly to a workstation are preferred over
network attached devices such as digital copiers. This is because
Image-Master can directly control the scanner and can prompt the
operator for needed information in a uniform and consistent fashion
independent of the device manufacturer. Paper feed problems such as
double-feeds and miss-picks can be discovered and addressed
immediately while the operator has the physical document
in-hand.
Selecting the Proper
Scanner Interface TWAIN 1.40 - If the scanner is
equipped with a TWAIN compliant driver and it appears on the
Image-Master approved scanner list, choose this interface. If the
scanner claims TWAIN compliance but does not appear on the approved
scanner list, either the scanner was not tested with Image-Master
or it failed the compatibility tests. In this case, try this
interface first. Then, if the scanner fails to scan multiple pages
properly select the CorTWAIN 1.0 interface instead. Using an
unapproved TWAIN scanner is not recommended.
CorTWAIN 1.0
- If the scanner is equipped with a TWAIN compliant driver, appears
on the Image-Master approved scanner list with a notation to use
this interface, or is unlisted and fails to work properly with the
TWAIN 1.40 interface, choose this interface. Using an unapproved
TWAIN scanner is not recommended.
Kofax - If
the scanner is connected to any model Kofax accelerator/ interface
card, or if you have purchased the SCSI scanner support module for
Image-Master, choose this interface.
No Scanner -
If none of the stations in the ID group have a scanner, choosing
this option will disable the scanning module and prevent
Image-Master from inadvertently trying to connect with a
nonexistent scanner.
NOTE: The scanner interface selection only
affects the scanning operations within the scanning module.
Therefore, it is allowable to mix workstations with and without
scanners in the same ID group as long as the users at non-scanning
workstations avoid using the scanning module. In order to use
scanners with different interfaces on the same network, different
configuration IDs must be specified for each scanner interface.
Some scanners support both types of
protocols. When that happens, the KOFAX protocol is preferred and
should be chosen.

A Note on Kofax
protocol devices...
Most of the scanners listed here will
work with an appropriate Kofax interface card or software license.
In addition, there are many additional models certified by Kofax
which do not appear on either list that will work correctly with
Image-Master. Kofax maintains their
own list of certified and compatible scanners.

Interface
The following approved scanners (as of 2009) have been tested by
Image-Master technicians for correct operation with
Image-Master.
