SQL Settings – New Connection
The "SQL Settings" form allows you to create or edit the connection
to your SQL Server database. The connection type is either Windows
Authenticated, User/PW, or Named. The differences are as
follows:
- Windows Authentication – Uses Windows user
information to gain access to the SQL Server
- User/PW – User and password are supplied in the
form and are used only by that database connection. No entry name
is supplied.
- Shared – An entry name is supplied along with user
and password which can be shared between numerous database
connections.
Note: User/PW and Shared entries have encrypted DSNX files.
User/PW information for Named entries are encrypted and stored in
the table ENTITIES to share the connection information between
databases.
If the connection uses Windows Authentication, then simply check
that box and click the [OK] button, otherwise optionally
enter a new Entry Name if it's using a Shared connection and then
User and Password for a valid SQL user. If the Shared connection
already exists then you will enter the Entry Name and User
information, leaving the Password blank and the Shared connection
will validate using the existing entry.
You can disable SQL Index Verification by checking the provided
box.
User/PW and Shared connections can require vMedia automatically
change the SQL User password after a specified number of days by
checking that box and entering a number between 1 and 365. The new
password will be a very long and randomly assigned string of
characters and numbers.
Click the [OK] button when completed. The configuration will
be validated and if correct, you will leave this screen.
Note: Never manually check the QLAW Connection s that is
automatically done during vMedia/QLAW Setup.
